Obituary for Sue Yoder Harris

harris-photoSue Yoder Harris, 73, of Berryville, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 28, 2016 in the Winchester Medical Center.

Ms. Harris was born February 27, 1943 in Danville, Virginia, daughter of the late Melvin and Beulah Mansfield Yoder.

She was a baker and a member of Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church.

Sue was a friend to many and never met a stranger.  If she loved you, you surely knew it without question.  Her love language was that of gifts, and she showered them on others with great joy.  She put others’ needs in front of her own and was always willing to give of what she had to love those around her.  Her feisty, independent spirit and gift of gab endeared her not only to her friends, but also to all she met.  She had a boisterous sense of humor and her hearty laughter was contagious.  She adored her grandchildren and enjoyed engaging them in creative projects and activities.

Her legacy will live on through the people she loved and into whom she poured her life.  She loved life and fought hard to the end to remain here with those she loved.  She was, however, a lover of Jesus and looked forward to meeting Him face to face.  Now she is enjoying her heavenly reward, and is certainly exclaiming, as she always did, “Praise the Lord and Hallelujah!”

Surviving is her daughter, Amy Sowers (Joe) of Winchester, VA; son, Jimmy Harris (Trudi) of Richmond, VA; brother, John Yoder (JoAnne) of Danville, VA; and grandchildren, Joseph Sowers, Jr., Emily Borstad (Jacob), Daniel Sowers, Hannah Sowers, Julian Harris, Cooper Harris, and Ryder Harris.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A. M.  Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville, with Rev. Mark Carey officiating.  Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church, 1955 Shepherds Mill Rd, Berryville, VA 22611.
