Loretta Kay Moore passed away on Tuesday January 31, 2017 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born on May 2, 1941 in Richwood, WV. Loretta was the daughter of the late Thomas Houston O’Dell and the late Mazel Irene O’Dell.
She worked as a clerk for the IRS in Washington, DC during the 1960s and was a homemaker and mother to four children. A few years ago Loretta worked the front desk at her local senior center in Staunton VA, where she manned the phones and greeted members and guests. Loretta also loved to listen to music and enjoyed many activities such as bowling, playing Bingo and cards and was a passionate artist.
Her kindness and loving spirit touched so many of those who had the fortune of meeting her.
She is survived by her sister, Gayla Ruth Lister; her two sons, John Thomas Moore and his wife, Janet from Stephens City, VA; Phillip Houston Moore, and his partner, Dee Hall from Maurertown, VA; her daughter, Deborah Kay Keene, and her husband, Kevin Keene from Belington, WV; her niece, Jana Monroe of White Post, VA and her 9 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also Loretta had countless nieces and nephews that she was always so proud of and loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Everett Moore, Jr.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, February 6 at 11am at Enders and Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Stephens City, VA with a 10am visitation an hour before the funeral service. Interment will be at Shenandoah Memorial Park immediately following the service.
The family invites you to gather at Stephens City United Methodist Church, Stephens City, VA after the graveside ceremony for a meal and fellowship.
