Obituary for Cora B. Ohl

Ohl PhotoOhl, Cora Beverley Harris, 84, of Stephens City, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2016.

She was born August 2, 1932 in Clarke County, Virginia to William Berkley and Mildred (Cone) Harris.

She was predeceased by her husband John Franklin Ohl of Winchester.

She is survived by her step-daughter, Susan Robinson; son-in-law, Larry; granddaughters, Grace and Nancy; and two great-grandchildren of Richmond and Chesapeake.

Cora was educated at Shenandoah Conservatory in Dayton, Virginia and received a Master’s degree in Music from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She taught music in Mississippi and was later an editor at Summy-Birchard Music Publishing Company in Illinois. Cora later assisted her husband in teaching music classes at Shenandoah Conservatory where he was a professor Emeritus. Cora also enjoyed conducting a local children’s choir that she organized. Cora was an artist, musician and had a keen interest in her family’s genealogy.

Cora was a longtime member of Ascension-St. Agnes Church in Washington DC and later attended church in Berryville, closer to her home.

Her family is very grateful for the loving care provided by her dear friends Ross, Patti and Julia and from the caring staff at Amerisist.

A service will be held at Mt. Hebron Chapel, 305 East Boscawen Street, Winchester on Saturday, August 3, 2016 at 2 p.m. Private interment to follow.

Arrangements are being handled by Enders and Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville.
